The Creative Pathways: Free Youth Arts Initiative is proudly presented by the North Pocono Cultural Society through the generous support of a grant from the Willary Foundation. This free community program is designed to expand access to quality arts education by providing youth with opportunities to explore their creativity, develop new artistic skills, and build confidence through music, dance, and performance.
Classes will be taught by the experienced instructors and professional staff of Musical Dreams Music Studio and Arabesque Academy of Dancing, two respected organizations with a longstanding commitment to arts education and youth development in the North Pocono community. Instruction will take place at one of these two conveniently located facilities, providing students with access to safe, welcoming, and fully equipped learning environments designed specifically for music and dance education.
Whether students are new to the arts or have previous experience, each class is designed to foster creativity, teamwork, self-expression, discipline, and personal growth while making the arts accessible to all young people regardless of financial circumstances.
This program will include the following opportunities and will run from September to May....
Love to sing? The Vocal Performance Group gives students the opportunity to develop healthy vocal technique while building confidence as performers. Participants will explore a variety of musical styles, improve musicianship, and learn the fundamentals of solo and ensemble singing. No previous vocal training is required—just a love of music and a willingness to learn.
Have you ever dreamed of performing in a real rock band? This exciting ensemble is designed for students interested in vocals, guitar, bass, drums, or keyboards. Members will rehearse popular music while learning teamwork, stage presence, musicianship, and live performance skills. Some prior experience is recommended for students interested in vocals, drums, or guitar, but advanced experience is not required.
Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to strengthen your skills, this class provides a fun and supportive introduction to guitar performance. Students will learn basic chords, rhythm, strumming techniques, beginning music theory, and how to play familiar songs together. No instrument is required, as guitars will be available for use during class.
Ballet provides the technical foundation for nearly every style of dance while promoting discipline, strength, flexibility, and artistic expression. Students will learn proper ballet technique through barre work, center exercises, across-the-floor combinations, and choreography appropriate for their age and ability while developing musicality, coordination, confidence, and grace.
Bring stories to life through movement and performance! This energetic class introduces students to the exciting world of musical theater through dance, character development, stage presence, and expressive performance. Students will learn Broadway-inspired choreography while building confidence, creativity, and communication skills in a collaborative environment.
Designed for students who enjoy energetic and athletic dance, this class combines jazz technique, pom routines, cheer-style choreography, precision movement, and performance skills. Participants will improve flexibility, coordination, endurance, teamwork, and confidence while learning exciting routines set to upbeat music.
All participants in the Creative Pathways: Free Youth Arts Initiative will take part in a special showcase at the end of the program celebrating everything they have learned throughout the series. This exciting performance will feature students from every class and ensemble, giving them the opportunity to share their talents and accomplishments with family, friends, and the community. The showcase will be free and open to the public, highlighting the importance of arts education and celebrating the creativity and achievements of our region's young performers.
